It’s time to have a look at a selection of Group 1 winning mares and who they partnered with in 2021.

Winx

Winx (Street Cry (IRE) x Vegas Showgirl) 25-time Group 1 winner.

After losing her first foal by I Am Invincible, Winx was given a year off. The champion daughter of Street Cry (IRE) was covered by Pierro on October 17. Fingers crossed.

Winx’s dam Vegas Showgirl had a filly by Pride Of Dubai and was covered by Extreme Choice.

Black Caviar (Bel Esprit x Helsinge) Group 1 VRC Patinack Farm Classic (twice), ATC TJ Smith Stakes (twice), BRC BTC Cup, MVRC William Reid Stakes (twice), VRC Lightning Stakes (three times), VRC Newmarket Handicap, MRC CF Orr Stakes, SAJC Goodwood Handicap, SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes, Ascot Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Undefeated champion Black Caviar had a Written Tycoon filly on November 17 and she may have been given a season off.

Her daughter Oscietra (Exceed And Excel) had a colt by Churchill (IRE) and was covered by Street Boss (USA).

Two more of Black Caviar’s daughters are at stud.

Out of Caviar (Snitzel) had a Toronado (IRE) colt and was covered by Capitalist, while Ready For Caviar (More Than Ready (USA) visited Snitzel in her first season.

Arcadia Queen (Pierro x Arcadia) Group 1 MRC Caulfield Stakes, VRC LKS Mackinnon Stakes, WATC Kingston Town Classic.

Arrowfield acquired triple Group 1 winner Arcadia Queen for a sale-topping $3,200,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and sent her to I Am Invincible for her first season.

Avantage (Fastnet Rock x Asavant) 9-time Group 1 winner.

Coolmore shelled out NZ$4.1 million for Avantage when she was offered on Gavelhouse, setting a new mark for a horse sold online. The 9-time Group 1 winner was covered by Wootton Bassett (GB) on October 2.

Alizee (Sepoy x Essaouira) Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes, Queen of the Turf Stakes, Group 1 MRC Futurity Stakes,

The gallant Alizee had an I Am Invincible filly on September 18 and was covered by Street Boss (USA).

Bella Vella (Commands x Forget The Weather) Group 1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes.

After missing to Criterion in 2018, Bella Vella was put back into work with very happy results. Purchased by Rosemont Stud for $1,900,000 at the National Broodmare Sale, the daughter of Commands was another in the queue for I Am invincible in 2021.

Bonaria (Redoute’s Choice x Decidity) Group 1 VRC Myer Classic.

Robert Anderson’s royally-related Bonaria had a Pierro filly in September before being covered by I Am Invincible.

Booker (Written Tycoon x Noondie) Group 1 MRC Oakleigh Plate.

A $1,600,000 Inglis Chairman’s Sale purchase, the speed machine Booker foaled an I Am Invincible colt August 14 and was covered by I Am Invincible again after missing to an earlier cover by Fastnet Rock.

Catchy (Fastnet Rock x Cats Whisker) Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

After foaling a Too Darn Hot (GB) filly in November, Catchy was covered by Extreme Choice.

Celebrity Queen (Redoute’s Choice c Celebrity Miss) Group 1 MRC Oakleigh Plate.

Purchased by Tom Magnier for a sale topping $2,500,000 at the 2021 Inglis Chairman’s Sale, Celebrity Queen visited Wootton Bassett (GB) in her first season.

Daysee Doom (Domesday x See a Victory) Group 1 ATC Coolmore Classic.

After foaling a Deep Field filly in October, Daysee Doom was covered by Wootton Bassett (GB).

Dear Demi (Dehere x Shirley) Group 1 VRC Oaks.

The dam of Group II Moonee Valley Classic winner Mokulua, Dear Demi foaled a Pierro filly in September and visited Zoustar.

Diamond Drille (Al Maher x Damzelle Pedrille) Group 1 ATC Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

Foaled a Dundeel filly and was covered by I Am invincible.

Cosmic Endeavour (Northern Meteor x Crevette) Group 1 ATC Canterbury Stakes, Tatt's QLD Tattersall's Tiara.

Royally bred Cosmic Endeavour had a filly by Too Darn Hot (GB) and visited the champion son of Dubawi again in 2021.

Dixie Blossoms (Street Sense (USA) x Whistle Dixie) Group 1   ATC Coolmore Classic.

Alan Osburg’s fan favourite Dixie Blossoms had fillies by Exceed And Excel in her first two seasons and was covered by Osburg’s champion sprinter again in 2021.

Earthquake (Exceed And Excel x Cataclysm) Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes.

The Golden Slipper runner-up was covered by Frosted (USA) after foaling a filly by Too Darn Hot.(GB).

English (Encosta de Lago x Court) Group 1 ATC All-Aged Stakes, BRC Doomben 10000.

Following misfortunes in her first two seasons, English foaled an I Am Invincible colt on October 3 and was covered by Snitzel.

First Seal (Fastnet Rock x Episode) Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes

Winx’s nemesis First Seal had a Zoustar colt in September and visited Snitzel.

Foxplay (Foxwedge x Butters) Group 1 ATC Queen of the Turf Stakes.

After foaling a filly by Alabama Express, Foxplay was covered by Written Tycoon.

Guelph (Exceed And Excel x Camarilla) Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes, Sires’ Produce Stakes, Flight Stakes, MRC One Thousand Guineas.

Dam of Group II winner Encryption (Lonhro), Guelph missed to Lonhro in 2020 and visited Too Darn Hot (IRE) this season.

Heavens Above (Street Cry x Reggie) Group 1 ATC Coolmore Classic

Reg Kemister’s Group 1 winner had an I Am Invincible filly in August before being covered by the Yarraman Park champion for the fourth consecutive time.

In Her Time (Time Thief x Hell It’s Hot) Group 1 ATC The Galaxy, VRC Lightning Stakes.

A $2,200,000 Ingis Chairman’s Sale purchase, In Her Time had an I Am Invincible colt on August 15 and was covered by Written Tycoon.

Invincibella (I Am Invincible x Abscond) Group I Tatts Tiara.

The $1.3 National Broodmare Sale purchase Invincibella had a filly by Justify (USA) on September 12 and was covered by Wootton Bassett (GB).

Kiamichi (Sidestep x Ouachita) Group 1 ATC Golden Slipper Stakes.

The 2019 Golden Slipper winner had a Lonhro filly in September and was covered by I Am Invincible.

Loving Gaby (I Am Invincible x Maastricht) Group 1 MVRC William Reid Stakes, Manikato Stakes.

After having her first foal, a Pierata filly, Loving Gaby was covered by Snitzel..

Lucia Valentina (Savabeel x Staryn Glenn) Group 1 ATC Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Vinery Stud Stakes, VRC Turnbull Stakes.

After foaling a colt by Super Seth in October, the courageous Lucia Valentina was covered by I Am Invincible.

Lyre (Lonhro x Erato) Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes

Lyre had a date with Darley Stud’s flagship stallion Exceed And Excel at her first season at stud.

Melody Belle (Commands x Maleka Belle) 14 Group 1 wins

The most successful Group 1 racehorse in New Zealand racing history with 14 wins at the highest level, Melody Belle was purchased by the Written Tycoon Syndicate for $2,600,000 at the National Broodmare Sale. Unsurprisingly, Written Tycoon was chosen as her first beau.  

Mid Summer Music (Oamaru Force x Samsara Lady) Group 1 BRC Stradbroke Handicap.

Foaled a Deep Field colt in October before visiting Bivouac in his first season at Darley.

Miss Finland (Redoute’s Choice x Forest Pearl) Group 1 VRC Oaks, Australian Guineas, MRC One Thousand Guineas, STC Golden Slipper Stakes, Arrowfield Stud Stakes.

Dam of the Group 1 MRC One Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me, the champion Miss Finland foaled a Castelvecchio colt in October and was served by Maurice (JPN).

Stay With Me had a colt foal by Dundeel and was covered by I Am Invincible.

More Joyous (More Than Ready (USA) x Sunday Joy) 8-time Group 1 winner.

After missing in 2020 the champion More Joyous was covered by So You Think after missing to Capitalist on an earlier cover.

Mossfun (Mossman x Eye For Fun) Group 1 ATC Golden Slipper Stakes.

After foaling an I Am Invincible colt in August, Mossfun was covered by Capitalist. Her dam Eye For Fun visited Ole Kirk in his first season.

Nakeeta Jane (So You Think x Lustre Lady) Group 1 ATC Surround Stakes.

Nakeeta Jane had a Justify (USA) colt on August 21 and visited Wootton Bassett (GB).

Oohood (I Am Invincible x Bella Sunday) Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes

Foaled a Fastnet Rock colt in November and was covered by Wootton Bassett (GB).

Overreach (Exceed And Excel x Bahia) Group 1 ATC Golden Slipper Stakes.

After foaling a Zoustar filly in October, Overreach was covered by Capitalist.

Pippie (Written Tycoon x Coupe Express) Group 1 MRC Oakleigh Plate, MVRC AJ Moir Stakes.

A $1,800,000 Chairman’s Sale purchase, Pippie was covered by Snitzel in her first season.

Plucky Belle (Mossman x Winning Belle) Group 1 ATC Coolmore Classic.

The Esplin family’s Coolmore Classic heroine had a Written Tycoon colt in September before being covered by Too Darn Hot (GB).

Politeness (Street Sense x Berengaria) Group 1 VRC Myer Classic.

There was a lot of racing around the nation on New Year’s Day but put this one in the black book. Gentility (Snitzel), the second foal of Politeness, made a stunning career debut at Mornington. After foaling a Dundeel colt, Politeness was covered by Written Tycoon.

Rising Romance (Ekraar (USA) x Post Romance) Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks.

The dam of Group 1 MRC One Thousand Guineas winner Yearning and the $2,500,000 2021 Easter Yearling sales-topping Snitzel colt, Rising Romance had a Snitzel colt on October 5 and was covered by Snitzel for the fifth time.  

Samantha Miss (Redoute’s Choice x Milliyet) Group 1 VRC Oaks, AJC Champagne Stakes, Flight Stakes.

The dam of Group II Tea Rose Stakes winner Miss Fabulass missed in 2020 and was covered by Pierro in 2021. Her daughter Miss Fabulass (Frankel) had her first foal, a Written Tycoon filly before being covered by I Am Invincible.

Samaready (More Than Ready x Samar) Group 1 MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, MVRC AJ Moir Stakes.

After missing in 2020 Samaready was covered by Wootton Bassett (GB). Her Magic Millions 2yo Classic winning daughter Exhilarates was covered by Street Boss (USA) in her first season in 2021.

Shoals (Fastnet Rock x The Broken Shore) Group 1 VRC Myer Classic, ATC Surround Stakes, SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes.

Shoals had a Written Tycoon colt in October and was covered by I Am Invincible.

Steps In Time (Danehill Dancer x Rare Insight) Group 1 ATC Coolmore Classic.

After foaling a Capitalist filly, Steps in Time was covered by Ole Kirk in his first season at vinery.

Streama (Stratum x Pensiamo) Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes, ATC Australian Oaks, ATC George Main Stakes, BRC Doomben Cup.

Earner of $2,673,150, Streama had a filly foal by Lonhro and was covered by Yes Yes Yes.

Sunlight (Zoustar x Solar Charged, by Charge Forward) Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, Newmarket Handicap, MVRC William Reid Stakes

A sale-topping $4.2million National Broodmare Sale purchase by Tom Magnier in 2020, Sunlight had a Justify (USA) colt on September 16 and was another top mare to visit Wootton Bassett (GB) in his first season at Coolmore.

Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock x Memories Of You) Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks.

Millionairess Unforgotten was a $2,750,00 purchase by Yulong at the 2020 National Broodmare Sale. Her first foal is a colt by I Am Invincible and was covered by Lucky Vega (IRE).

Viddora (I Am Invincible x Snow Flight) Group 1 MVRC AJ Moir Stakes, WATC Winterbottom Stakes.

A $2,550,000 Yulong purchase at the National Broodmare Sale, Viddora foaled a Snitzel filly on September 26 and was covered by Written Tycoon.
