In 2005, high class Danehill mare Aqua D’Amore was just at the start of her sparkling career backing up from winning the Group II ATC Villiers Stakes to also take out the Group III ATC Summer Cup and at Randwick on Boxing Day her six year-old son Parry Sound followed in her footsteps to win the feature race claiming his first Black type success.

Reduced in distance to 2000m from the 2400m that it was when Aqua D’Amore claimed the prize, the Summer Cup is still a good test of a stayer and the Bjorn Baker trained son of Pierro was strong at the finish at his third run back from a spell to claim a three-quarter length win.

Bjorn Baker is keen to avenge his neck defeat 12 months ago and is all systems go for the Gold Coast.
“The main aim is to get back up for the Magic Millions and this sets him up nicely for the 2400m,’’ said Baker.
“He was travelling really strongly on the corner and was able to finish the race off well. We will take him up to the Magic Millions with a bit of confidence.’’
A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase for Domeland from the Tyreel Stud draft, Parry Sound was bred at Coolmore and is the best of six winners from eight foals to race from Group I winner Aqua D’Amore, who won over $1.9million and was second in a Caulfield Cup and fourth in a Cox Plate.
Coolmore will offer the full brother to Parry Sound at Magic Millions as Lot 753 and Aqua D’Amore has foaled this spring producing a filly by Calyx (GB).
Parry Sound is the 26th stakes-winner for Pierro, who has 20 entries for Magic Millions.
