The David Payne trained colt broke his maiden at Kembla in July before turning in solid efforts in shorter Group races at his last two starts.
A rise in distance proved to be just what he was looking for and under a well rated ride in front by Tye Angland, Ace High showed his staying talent.
He led for home and held off a tenacious bid from Godolphin runner Sanctioned to win by a length and a quarter with staying bred So You Think filly Coral Coast stamping herself as Oaks material with a brave third.
"He had an easy enough time in front although I always knew he'd be attacked, but he just kept fighting," said Angland.
"He's very self-confident within himself and this will really bring him on."
A $130,000 Magic millions purchase from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft for his trainer, Ace High runs for well known owner John Cordina's Summertime Thoroughbreds and has won two of 10 starts earning over $200,000 in prizemoney.
"This has always been the plan to get him into these races with two weeks now to the Spring Champion Stakes (Group I)," said David Payne.
"If he comes through that well we'll have a look at the Victoria Derby.
"He's by High Chaparral and his grand-dam is by Sunday Silence so he should run three laps around the track!"
Ace High was bred by Bruce Reid Racing and is the best of two winners from Come Sunday, an unraced half-sister by Redoute's Choice to stakes-winners That's a Good Idea and Kneeling.
Sadly, Come Sunday died last year and her final foal is a yearling colt by Hallowed Crown.
Ace High is the 102nd stakes-winner for Epsom Derby winning sire High Chaparral, who died in 2014.
He is the third winner of this race for his sire, who won in with So You Think in 2009 and Dundeel in 2012.
