Dirty Thoughts Sells for $575,000 on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Friday November 12

The Inglis Digital platform has further enhanced itself as the best place to sell online after Stakes-winning mare Dirty Thoughts (So You Think) realised $575,000 as part of the November (Early) auction.

The 4YO, who has won five of her 13 starts, sold to Ciaron Maher Bloodstock, who teamed up with Cunningham Bloodstock and Jim Clarke Bloodstock to finalise the purchase.

G3 winner Dirty Thoughts has sold for $575,000.

She will be trained by Maher and David Eustace and will be targeted at a Sydney autumn campaign.

In reaching $575,000, Dirty Thoughts becomes the seventh highest-priced mare to sell on the platform behind Funstar ($2.7m), Every Rose ($1.3m), Joyous Legend ($1,025m), Fasika ($920k), Archanna ($900k) and Members Joy ($800k).

Dirty Thoughts was initially a $16,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase for her former trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and has already won almost $350,000 in earnings.

She was offered in the November (Early) Inglis Digital Sale by Peter Franklin’s Cranton Bloodstock on behalf of the ownership group.

Her sale took the November (Early) auction gross to $3,384,450 at an outstanding clearance rate of 88%.

Franklin, who has had success on Inglis Digital before as both a buyer and seller, was delighted with the $575,000 price tag for Dirty Thoughts.

“I’m ecstatic, I love Inglis Digital!’’ a thrilled Franklin said.

“I topped the early April sale with a Snitzel mare [Iguacu Falls] in foal to Brutal who I’d put a $60,000 reserve on and she made $167,000 which was amazing and now to be selling a mare for $575,000 is quite staggering really.

“Dirty Thoughts is such a beautiful mare and deserved to find a great new home which she has. It’s just a great result all round.

“I love these online sales, they’re so easy for everybody.

“[Inglis’] Sinead [Flannery] has been a legend to deal with through this mare’s negotiations, she did a fabulous job, as did [Inglis Digital Business Manager] Nick Melmeth who followed up on many leads we had, and to have this outcome is just fantastic for everyone.’’

Ciaron Maher Racing’s Bloodstock Manager Will Bourne, who was instrumental in the purchase, said Dirty Thoughts would be targeted at the Sydney autumn carnival before any decisions were made on her future.

“Ultimately the new owners will breed from her, there’s a lot of residual value there, but the So You Think’s seem to thrive on those wetter autumn tracks in Sydney so that’s where she will start back off and we’ll just go from there,’’ Bourne said.

“Our thought process behind buying her was that it would be a similar play to buying Bella Nipotina which we did as a raced filly, who was also a G3 winner and has been a huge result since so hopefully Dirty Thoughts can repeat the dose.

“It’s great to team up with Jim Clarke and Cunningham Bloodstock to secure this mare, we think she’s all quality and can’t wait to race her in a few months.’’

Entries for the Inglis Digital November (Late) Online Sale are now open.

There has already been significant interest in the upcoming sale, with three quality pregnant mares already confirmed.

Two Bays Farm will offer Alcatraz (Fastnet Rock) - the dam of G1 placed Kubrick and whose past three yearlings have sold for a combined $1,175,000 – in foal to Deep Field and proven Stakes producer Loading Zone (dam of dual G3 winner Military Zone) in foal to Anders, while Widden has entered well bred young mare Discerned (Zoustar) in foal to Anders.

Entries close this coming Wednesday, November 17.
