Italian St Leger Winner for Fastnet Rock

Champion sire Fastnet Rock posted an interesting stakes-winner overnight with his progressive three year-old staying colt Atzeco winning the Group III St Leger Italiano (1m7f) at Campanelle providing a pedigree update for his family members here in Australia.

Trained by Alduino Botti, Atzeco had been stakes-placed twice previously and scored a three-quarter length win, his second from eight starts.

Bought from the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale for 37,000 guineas, Atzeco is the best of three winners from Examinee, an unraced Monsun mare that is a full sister to Group III winner Energizer and to Extravaganza (Ger) the dam of Australian stakes-winner Long Jack.



Owned by Fergus and Delia Doyle, Extravaganza has a two year-old filly by Churchill (IRE), a yearling filly by So You Think and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Dundeel.

Atzeco is the 181st stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock, who stands at a fee of $165,000 this spring.
