For breed to race broodmare owners on a tight budget the dream of breeding to a Golden Slipper winning sire might seem far-fetched, but it’s not.
The Listed MRC Debutant Stakes for two year-olds at Caulfield on Saturday was won by talented filly Kiki Express, who edged out $1million Zoustar colt Brereton to score a debut win.
She is a homebred filly for Epona Park's Jeff Allis and partners sired by Sepoy, the Golden Slipper winning Champion Two and Three Year Colt of his generation.

Kiki Express is the 22nd stakes-winner for Darley based Sepoy, who also went close to winning the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial the previous week with the Godolphin homebred two year-old colt Lascars, who finished second.
Lascars is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Sepoy’s multiple Group I winner Alizee, so expect to see more from him.
Also flying the flag for Sepoy at Caulfield was his stakes-winning gelding Pandemic, who chased Lombardo home for second in the Listed MRC Village Stakes.
Sepoy was once the darling of the Hunter Valley covering some of the best mares in the country at the start of his stud career, but consistent stakes success failed to materialise and he now stands at Darley Victoria and is priced this spring at $4,400.
Sepoy shuttled to the Northern Hemisphere for several seasons early in his career, but if we look at his statistics just for his Southern Hemisphere bred progeny he runs at 65% winners to runners which is a healthy figure.
Priced as he is this spring, Sepoy is great value if you want to send your mare to a Golden Slipper winner and still have money in the bank!
