Iamican Tops Buoyant Magic Millions Online Sale

Media Release - Thursday October 7

I Am Invincible's three time winning daughter Iamican topped a successful Magic Millions Online October Sale today.

Iamican topped the Magic Millions online sale.

Bevan Smith went to $176,500 to secure the good looking mare after a spirited online bidding battle for the David Vandyke trained galloper.

"She's one of the nicest fillies I'd ever purchased at a sale," Vandyke reported. "She's an outstanding type by a top stallion."

"I'm very optimistic she will make a good broodmare. I'll certainly be looking at her foals when they're offered up for sale."

"When I look at buying fillies I always look and talk to prospective buyers about residual value. When they are as well bred and good looking as Iamican you can end up with a good result."

"I'm delighted with the way Magic Millions promoted the mare and helped us during the entire sales process."

"Long live Magic Millions Online," Vandyke added. "I'm thrilled with the result."

Bevan Smith was thrilled to be able to secure the quality mare and is looking forward to seeing what she can produce at stud.

"What attracted me to her is she's a very good looking daughter of a top sire in I Am Invincible."

"You could see from the video she was a good looking mare and then I was able to talk to some Queenslanders who I trust for reports. Chris Farrell said she was an A Grade physical - it's great to have those people who can help when you can't see them yourself."

"She was a high priced yearling and ticks all the boxes."

Smith said the mare was purchased by his client Jamie Withers and she would be based with Sherah Sullivan in Victoria.

"We will consider which stallion she heads to. We hold a few nominations and we will work it out over the next 24 to 48 hours."

Yulong secured the final lot of the sale, the beautifully bred Redoute's Choice mare Scissors, for $145,000.

The mare, a winner from just three starts and a close relation to sires Scissor Kick and Sharkbite, was offered online by GSA Bloodstock.

Other lots who proved popular today included Cobia ($67,500 to Todd Howlett), Sciconic ($57,500 to Joe Duarte) and Palaszczuk ($50,000 to Tricolours Racing & Syndication).

History was also made today when Pindus, a Singapore based racehorse, was offered and sold for $21,000 to Kranji based horsewoman Donna Logan.

Pindus is declared to race in Singapore in the first race on Saturday for his next connections.

"There was good demand for quality today," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "It was fantastic to see so many bids coming from around Australia and also abroad and to average about $40,000 is a great result."

"We thank our vendors for their support," Bowditch added. "Results such as today reiterates that the Magic Millions platform commands respect and gives vendors great opportunity to achieve the very best outcome."

Entries for the next Magic Millions Online Sale (November 15-18) are now open.
