New Zealand Bloodstock and the Waikato Racing Club have been given confirmation to stage the 2021 Breeze Ups at Te Rapa Racecourse under Alert Level 3, should the current Hamilton city border restrictions remain in place.
The Breeze Ups will go ahead as scheduled at Te Rapa on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 October.
Operating under Alert Level 3 restrictions, in addition to New Zealand Bloodstock staff and contractors, the following persons are authorised to attend the Breeze Ups:
- Consignors and associated staff
- Preparers and associated staff
- Bloodstock agents
- Medical personnel (EMT Personnel)
- Veterinarians and their assistants
- Farriers
- Livestock transportation providers
- Accredited photographers
- Accredited press
- Caterers and staff onsite at Te Rapa Racecourse
The general public, including owners, are not permitted to attend the Breeze Ups.
NZB and its Ready to Run Sale consignors and preparers will be responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date medical information to ensure the Breeze Ups are run smoothly and adhering to government Alert Level 3 regulations and protocols.
For the second year, NZB will again be offering extended Breeze Up clips including additional footage near the 600 metre mark to capture horses before they fully extend into their gallop. As per usual, horses will also have the last 200 metres of their work individually timed.
Providing even more information for buyers, NZB will also be filming the mounting yard at Te Rapa, with all two-year-olds being paraded prior to their Breeze Up.
The full Breeze Ups clips and parade footage will be made available for viewing on NZB’s website by Friday 15 October, as well as streamed on Trackside in New Zealand, plus Sky Racing and Racing.com in Australia.
Authorised New Zealand-based bloodstock agents are available to complete inspections on behalf of buyers at the Breeze Ups.
The 2021 Ready to Run Sale Breeze Up schedule will be released in the coming days.
