Pedigree Potential – Ready to Run

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 5

The awesome power of the High Chaparral (IRE) sireline was brought into sharp perspective by Saturday’s feast of Australian stakes racing with the newest member of the sire dynasty putting his name in lights.

An Epsom Derby winning son of Sadler’s Wells, High Chaparral first made his presence felt in New Zealand after shuttling his first few seasons to Windsor Park Stud, but burgeoning worldwide success saw him continue his stud career at Coolmore headquarters in Australia until his death in 2014 .

The legacy of High Chaparral is extending far and wide with his sons delivering notable stakes success on Saturday – So You Think (G2 winner and $2.3million earner Think It Over), Toronado (IRE) (G2 winner Masked Crusader and G2 winner Still a Star), Dundeel (G1 second Entente) and of course the up and comer Tivaci (G1 winner Never Been Kissed).

Tivaci is currently the leading Australian second crop sire by earnings, click to read more.

With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, Waikato Stud’s Tivaci has taken giant strides this season posting six winners – five in Australia - including metropolitan winners Draft Day and Celevacci as well as Group I ATC Flight Stakes winner Never Been Kissed (read about her here).

Never Been Kissed is the first G1 winner for Tivaci - image Steve Hart.

Her half-brother by Sacred Falls will be offered as Lot 218 at the forthcoming NZB Ready to Run Sale through the Ohukia Lodge draft on behalf of Waikato Stud and is sure to attract huge interest.

There are eight two year-olds to be offered by Tivaci from various vendors: Woburn Farm (2), Cheltenham Stables, JC Thoroughbreds, Kilgravin Lodge, Ohukia Lodge, Pertab Racing and Phoenix Park.

Highlights are below:

Lot 78 is a colt  bred on the same cross as Never Been Kissed being the first foal from unraced Savabeel mare Common Courtesy, a full sister to Group I placed stakes-winner Milford Sound from the family of four time Group I winner and sire Sacred Falls.

Lot 162 is a gelded half-brother to Group I placed Heidilicious and stakes-placed Sherpa Tenzing from good producing Danehill mare Kerkira (IRE), who interestingly comes from the same female family as High Chaparral.

Lot 186 a colt, second foal of fast metro winning Thorn Park mare Lucy Liu, whose third dam is legendary racemare and broodmare Horlicks.

Lot 265 is the half-brother to Group III winner Our Hail Mary from good producer Repenting, a full sister to four time Group I winner Shez Sinsational.

Lot 272 is a gelded half-brother to stakes-winner Queen’s Rose and Group II placed Perfect Scenario from Group III winner Rosetti Bay.
