Archanna Sells for $900,000 on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday September 29

A 3/4 sister to The Autumn Sun has become the fourth offering to sell for $900,000 or more on Inglis Digital, with Arrowfield Stud securing the ‘stunning’ Archanna in the September (Late) Online Sale for that price.

A Metro winning 5YO daughter of Snitzel and Azmiyna (Galileo), Archanna was offered by Chris Waller Racing on behalf of her ownership group and follows a spate of top-quality race fillies and mares on the industry’s premier online sales platform.

Archanna topped the Inglis Digital Sale at $900,000.

“We bred her in partnership with the Aga Khan, out of Azmiyna, obviously the dam of The Autumn Sun and she has gone back to Ireland and not having a filly out of her, we were keen to secure the bloodlines for Arrowfield Stud,” Jon Freyer said.

“We discussed offering her on Inglis Digital with Guy Mulcaster, after Every Rose had sold so well [$1.3 million], we thought it was a very fair way to dissolve the partnership, value the horse and everyone have the opportunity to bid on her.

“She really is a stunning mare, she always has been and although we only had a small interest in her, we had to step up and meet the market and we are very fortunate to have secured her, we’re thrilled.

“We haven’t decided which stallion she will visit this season, but it could be a choice between Maurice and Shalaa.”

Archanna was one of four lots to sell for six figures in the September (Late) Online Sale, bringing the 2021 six figure tally to 74.

Cumani Racing’s Dundeel mare Deserved was bought by Epic Investment Holdings for $145,000, Mark Newnham Racing purchased 3YO gelding Dickson House (Deep Field), which he trains, for $100,000 and 2YO Pyson (Pierro) was one of two horses bought by A Value Consulting Limited, who paid $105,000 for the unraced colt.

Dr. Alan Lee, director of A Value Consulting Limited, said he was very pleased to assist his clients in their respective purchases.

“Pyson has a very good outlook and is expected to be a good miler, while my other purchase Hinson ($30,000) is by Snitzel and has had two good trials at Rosehill and Randwick and can be a Class 3 horse in Hong Kong at least,’’ Lee said.

Pyson and Hinson were offered by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing, on behalf of their owner Vincent Li’s estate.

“I am very sad about the passing of Mr. Vincent Li, one of the top owners in Hong Kong and Macau,” Dr. Lee said.

“I will be happy if I can see both these horses enjoy wins in Hong Kong, however my clients have not yet decided on their next destination.”

Other standout results in the September (Late) Sale include Heywood ($90,000), Starfield Impact ($90,000), South Pacific ($85,000), Otelo ($75,500) and Outrageous ($70,000).

The September (Late) Sale concluded with $3.6 million gross and another strong clearance rate of 83% for 208 lots offered.

It also brought the turnover for the month of September to $10.3 million, following the September (Early) gross of $5.4 million and the bespoke sale of Every Rose for $1.3 million.

“It’s been a spectacular month and a testament to the confidence that a huge number industry participants, buyers and sellers, have developed in the platform” said Inglis Digital’s Nick Melmeth.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities that we are afforded to sell quality stock, sale after sale, and we are very excited about the future as we look to further enhance the service and stock that we offer.”

Inglis Digital will hold another boutique mare sale beginning tomorrow, 10am.

Headlined by multiple Group performer Celestial Falls (Hinchinbrook) – a half sister to Greysful Glamour - the ‘Spring Boutique Online Sale’ also features Group performers Miss Inbetween (Fighting Sun) and Dawson Diva (Falvelon).

Final countdown of bidding will commence at 4pm Friday, October 1.
