Pedigree Potential – Ready to Run

There are a good number of Group I sires standing in Australia for big service fees, whose statistics do not come close to this well proven sire, who gave us all a good reminder as to his talents last Saturday.

Darci Brahma mare Sierra Sue wins the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes - image Racing Photos.

The Oaks Stud’s stalwart Darci Brahma posted a 12th individual Group I winner at Caulfield last Saturday when quality mare Sierra Sue charged home to win the MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m).

A sale-topping yearling by Danehill from Pencarrow Stud’s iconic Richebourg family, Darci Brahma was a champion sprinter miler and five time Group I winner, so his success at stud is more of a formality than a surprise.

But for those who underestimate him, let’s take a look at the basic facts.

Darci Brahma is a quality sire with the stats to back him up.

72% winners to runners and 53 stakes-winners running at very nearly 8% stakes-winners to runners, that’s top-class stats in any terms.

His Group I winners are split eight fillies and four colts/ geldings with success in Hong Kong a key factor to note as he is the sire of a HK International Sprint winner in DB Pin and a Hong Kong Derby winner in Sky Darci.

Darci Brahma has nine entries for the NZB Ready To Run Sale consigned by Kiltannon Stables (7) and one each from Lilywhites Lodge and Ohukia Lodge with highlights below:

Lot 20 is a full brother to Group II placed Pemberley and stakes-placed Outshine from Group I placed stakes-winner Upstaged.

Lot 124 is a half-brother to Group II winner Smoulder and Group III placed Flaming from stakes-winner Flying Firebird.

Lot 159 is a half-brother to Group II placed Luminous and comes with a double cross of Zabeel 3 x 3.

Lot 184 is a half-brother to stakes-placed Aces Wild and comes from the family of dual Group I winner and sire Kermadec.

Lot 307 is a full brother to Group III placed Embers from Group II winner Smoulder.
