A couple of talented girls by Pride of Dubai made their mark on Wednesday with progressive four year-old Sirileo Miss resuming from a spell to win at Sandown, while overnight in the UK Just Beautiful scored a career best win in the Group III Sceptre Fillies Stakes (7f) at Doncaster.
Trained by Ivan Furtado and ridden by Silvestre de Sousa, three year- old filly Just Beautiful raced on the pace and stuck to her guns to score a tenacious head win over four year-old Exceed and Excel mare Double or Bubble.
Already a Listed winner earlier this year, Just Beautiful has been super consistent with five wins and a second from just seven starts and holds an entry for the Group I Newmarket Sun Chariot Stakes (1m) on October 2.
“
That was unbelievable, she is some filly to do what she's done. Just Beautiful has won five out of seven, been second in a Group 3 and ran a great race in probably the best Falmouth (G1) of the last few years,” said Ivan Furtado.
“We've always liked her, she started to come to herself in September-time last year. She came to herself and we thought we had something special. Fortunately we did! Whether she stays in training next year or goes to the broodmare sale is a question mark but if the ground is right we could go for the Sun Chariot.”
Bought for a bargain 8,000 guineas from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 3, Just Beautiful is a half-sister to Group II winner Fearless King being from Group III placed Astrelle, a half-sister by Makfi to Group II winner Porsenna and stakes-winner Basileus.
Her second dam is by Hussonet, which is somewhat unusual for a European pedigree, but his blood is quite prevalent in Australia so it’s worth noting.
Just Beautiful is one of 11 stakes-winners for Pride of Dubai, who may have another stakes-winner on the horizon in Sirileo Miss.
Third in the Group III SAJC Auraria Stakes and fifth beaten a length in the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks, the Simon Wilde trained Sirileo Miss looks set for a good spring campaign after charging home to win the Benchmark 70 event for mares at Sandown by more than a length.
A $60,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Miranda Park draft for her trainer, Sirileo Miss has three wins and three placings from seven starts with prizemoney in excess of $185,000.
Bred by Gary O’Meara, she is a half-sister to stakes-placed Sophia’s Choice and is one of seven winners from seven to race from good producer She’s Sirius, a half-sister by Galileo to stakes-winner Spectrolite.
She’s Sirius produced a colt last spring by Merchant Navy and is booked to visit exciting Coolmore newcomer King’s Legacy.
A dual Group I winner by Street Cry (IRE), Pride of Dubai is remarkable value this spring at a fee of $22,000.
