Full Sister to Yankee Rose a Gavelhouse Highlight

Media Release - Thursday September 2

With the breeding season underway, those looking to add quality to their broodmare arsenals need look no further than the latest gavelhouse.com catalogue.

Representing just 7.3% of Australia’s racing population, New Zealand-bred horses won 24.3% of Group One races there last season. The Kiwi’s consistent trans-Tasman dominance promises that demand in coming years is guaranteed and is a reason to breed with confidence this season.

College Girl is a full sister to dual G1 winner Yankee Rose.

Of the 49-Lot assembly, 35 are broodmares with all bar 1 offered on an unreserved basis and the majority part of a large dispersal. Some Lots of note include:

  • Aline – a daughter of O’Reilly out of Zabeel mare Perrine, a daughter of Pencarrow Stud’s outstanding producer Richebourg making her a full sister to Grand Echezeaux. Closely related to other Group One winners in Darci Brahma, Ethereal, Howard Be Thy Name plus Group winners and Group One performers Burgundy, Romanee Conti, Supera, Eleonora and Dolmabache. Empty and has been under lights. Selling with an Equilume.
  • College Girl – a full to champion two and three-year-old filly of her generation Yankee Rose, winner of the Gr.1 Spring Champion Stakes, Gr.1 ATC Sires’ Produce and runner up in the Gr.1 Golden Slipper while third as a three-year-old to Winx and Harnell in the Gr.1 Cox Plate. Yankee Rose’s most recent foal to sell fetched over A$4.5 million in Japan two months ago.
  • Giggleswick - a winner of two by Elusive Quality who was placed in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks, she is from the Sadler’s Wells mare High School who is a sibling to triple Group One winner In The Wings and three other international Group winners. To date Giggleswick has produced two winners including dual stakes winner Plague Stone. Currently empty.
  • Herbernia – a half sibling to two outstanding gallopers in Niconero and Nicconi, Herbernia is by Street Cry, an outstanding sire whose record as a broodmare sire is equally impressive with 16 Group One winners featuring Gr.1 Golden Slipper winner Farnan. Offered in foal to dual horse of the year Mongolian Khan, the history making winner of the Gr.1 NZ Derby, Gr.1 ATC Derby and Gr.1 Caulfield Cup.
  • Made To Order – a city winning, stakes-placed Commands mare from Zabeel mare Making Fey who is also the dam of Gr.1 TJ Smith Classic winner Apercu. Currently empty, she is already the dam of a winner in Australia in Made By Khan (Mongolian Khan).

Bidding ends from 7pm (NZ) on Monday night.
