A small set of eight trials at Randwick on Thursday morning featured Everest contender Gytrash and exciting Godolphin colt Anamoe, who was stepping out for the first time this spring following an interruption to his program due to an elevated temperature last month.
The first two heats were run over 1050m and won by Kiwi visitor Entriviere (Tavistock) and Lord Olympus (Olympic Glory (IRE), who beat last start G3 Up and Coming Stakes Tiger of Malay and New Zealand Oaks winner Amarelinha.
Gytrash
went around in a 740m heat and worked home well to win by half a length over Frostin’ with Anamoe finishing third under a hold after racing deep throughout at the back of the field under James McDonald.
With last season’s Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside and Blue Diamond winner Artorius both beaten when resuming from a spell, all eyes will be on Anamoe when he returns to the races.
James Cummings has indicated the son of Street Boss (USA) remains on target to resume on Saturday week in the Group II Run To The Rose on his way to the the $1 million Group I Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 25.
