First Winner for Dear Demi

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 31

$2.1million earner Dear Demi was a popular and successful performer for John Singleton and produced her first winner at Hawkesbury on Tuesday.

Trained by Chris Waller, four year-old Redoute’s Choice gelding Ma and Pa has been given plenty of time and was first up from a lengthy spell following a brief campaign earlier this year when he was second on debut and then ninth at Warwick Farm.

Gelded in his time away, Ma and Pa has looked more committed to the cause in recent trials and raced up on the pace all the way for Tim Clark to win the 1300m maiden by a length and a quarter as favourite.

The second foal of Dear Demi is three year-old Redoute’s Choice filly Mokulua, who has accepted for the 1400m maiden at Randwick on Wednesday and may acquit herself well in what appears a strong race.

Winner of the Group I VRC Oaks and placed in a further seven Group I races, Dear Demi has a yearling colt by Frankel and is due to foal to Pierro.
