Another
Frankel is ready to step out for the first time at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
The sale-topper at the 2016 NZB Premier Yearling Sale when fetching $1.3
million is Tangmere, a Frankel colt bred and sold by Pencarrow Stud from star
producer Our Echezeaux, the dam of Group winners Dolmabache and Pure Elegance.
This Pencarrow Stud’s royal family that has also produced cups queen Ethereal
and Champion 3YO and sire Darci Brahma as well as Group I winners Grand
Echezeaux and Howard Be Thy Name.
Tangmere is trained by Chris Waller and runs for a diverse group of power
players including Coolmore, the Niarchos family owned Flaxman Stables and
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum in whose colours he runs.
He lines up in race three against what looks a very interesting field on paper
and also includes a couple of expensive Savabeel colts making their debut in
Lord Elliott (MM $510,000) and Kaonic (NZB $425,000).
