A first time Coolmore shuttler to Australia this spring, Wootton Bassett (GB) was based in France before being acquired by Coolmore so he had strong representation at the 2021 Arqana August Yearling Sale with 16 yearling sold over three days and 13 of those selling for €100,000 ($A160,502) or more.
His top seller at €500,000 ($A802,521) was a colt from stakes-placed Bhageerathi that was bought by bloodstock agent Amanda Skiffington.
"He's just a really lovely colt by a horse I think is a seriously good stallion," Skiffington told TDN.
"That's the sort of price you have to go to in order to buy a horse like that.
Other big sales were a filly from Petite Noblesse that made €220,000 ($A353,121) to the bid of MV Magnier and a colt from Fray that made €210,000 ($A337,071) when bought by BBA Ireland.
Completely free of Danehill blood, Wootton Bassett is a proven Group I sire whose best is yet to come and stands this spring at a fee of $71,500.
