Greg Polson previews Gosford Saturday July 29

Greg Polson - Saturday July 29

One of our favourites trainers playing on her home turf and Team Hawkes taking on a Chris Waller first starter provide the best investment opportunities at Gosford on Saturday.

Gosford trainer Angela Davies is about to complete her fifth racing season from the last decade with a winning strike rate more than 25 per cent and looks set to end the season with a winner on her home track.

Davies will saddle up Sir Magic in the Seacoast Fishing CG&E Class 2 Handicap 1200m after having no luck at Hawkesbury resuming last start when he never saw daylight in the straight.

Sir Magic is the winner of two of his nine career starts to date and is yet to miss a place in three second-up runs.

With the run under his belt and even luck in running Sir Magic is the horse to beat on Saturday.

The race experience for the Hawkes-trained Fleur looks a significant factor in the Taylormade Residential 3 Or Less Starts Maiden Plate (1100m).

Fleur was well beaten at Wyong at her only run in her first preparation but showed significant improvement when runner-up at Gosford resuming after sitting three-wide in the run without cover.

Fleur must overcome the Chris Waller-trained Sexy Eyes who goes to the races for the first time on the back of a Rosehill trial win.

Happy to have Fleur with the race experience the top pick assessed as a $2.70 with Sexy Eyes $4.20 in my market but happy to invest on both if we can get the assessed odds.
