Coming from off the pace with a powerful finish, Ancient Girl gathered in her opposition to win going away by ¾ length over the 1200m journey, with the manner of her victory suggesting the 1600m of the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas will hold no fears for the good looking daughter of Turn Me Loose (Iffraaj).

Ancient Girl was a $150,000 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale purchase by McDonald Racing from the draft of Windsor Park Stud, who stand her promising young sire Turn Me Loose. The cracking filly was bred by former team members Jason Thomasen and David Morris.
