Gee Gee Studs prolific stallion Wordsmith came out firing on the first day of the season, siring five of the eight winners at Devonport.

It may be a numbers game, but remarkably the son of Testa Rossa has averaged just 28 foals from his first eleven crops.

Four of the five winners were homebreds for Paul and Elizabeth Geard's GeeGee Stud.

The final winner of the day, the Cameron Thompson-trained Our Little ted was a $20,000 purchase by Dale Stacey from the Kingsley Park Thoroughbreds draft at the 2018 MM Tasmanian Yearling Sale.
