Metro Treble for Magnus

Widden Stud Victoria have three stallions on the roster this spring to all sire 100 plus winners in Star Witness, Nicconi and Magnus, who ended his season on a high with a metropolitan treble on Saturday.

Magnus had Mr Pickwick and Mahamedeis salute at Moonee Valley, while at Randwick five year-old gelding Ashman took out the $100,000 Midway Handicap for the Kim Waugh stable.

Ashman was having his second run for new trainer Kim Waugh and took his prizemoney soaring past $200,000 when leading all the way to win the 1300m contest by a length and a half.

Three year-old Mr Pickwick is a homebred for Olly Tait and the Patrick Payne trained gelding scored a surprise front running win, leading all the way to win over 2040m by a length and a half and has now won over $100,000.

Trained by Nick Ryan, six year-old gelding Mahamedeis has been a prolific winner for Magnus throughout his career. He posted his 12th win from 50 starts when saluting over 2040m and has won over $1.1million in prizemoney.

Magnus has ended the season with 119 winners of over $7.3 million in prizemoney and stands this spring at a fee of $15,400.
