One to Watch – Nowra

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 19

Champion Thoroughbreds had a winner in Ireland last night and the same colours were back in the winner’s circle at Nowra on Monday aboard a debut winner for Newhaven Park’s first season sire Xtravagant.

Read about the Champion Thoroughbreds owned winner in Ireland here.

The John O’Shea trained King of Spades was well educated for his first start with four barrier trials this year and was sent to the post as favourite.

He settled last in the field of four for Alysha Collett and surged around his rivals to hit the line hard and win the 1200m maiden by a short head.
