One to Watch – TSHA Slipper Class Winner

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 12

Champion sire I Am Invincible clocked up his 200th winner for the season last week and over the weekend he also posted an interesting winner on the Thoroughbred Sport Horse Class jumping circuit with a first victory at the Equestrian Gold Coast Club’s Winter Showjumping Festival for his stakes-winning son Whypeeo.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Blue Sky Bloodstock in 2016, Whypeeo proved an immediate success for his trainer Toby Edmonds winning three of his first four starts.

Whypeeo was a $200,000 Magic Millions yearling sold by Yarraman Park.

He continued to race up until January 2020 and retired sound with five wins and seven placings from 26 starts with prizemoney topping $435,000 and highlight wins in the Listed BRC Gold Edition Stakes and Mick Dittman Plate.

Bred by Yvonne Smith, Whypeeo was foaled and raised at Yarraman and is a half-brother to Group II winner Meliora, the dam of I Am Invincible’s Group III winning son I Am Immortal, who stands at Swettenham Stud.

Holly Penfold and Whypeeo, winner of the Slipper Class at the Gold Coast show.

Now in the care of Holly Penfold, Whypeeo has made a smooth transition to the jump ring and looks to have a bright future in his new pursuit after winning the Slipper Class over 80cm.
