The Future of Racing is Shaped at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale

Media Release - Friday July 9

The Keeneland September Yearling Sale begins Monday, Sept. 13. In just a few months, the sound of a striking gavel will once again signify the future of the Thoroughbred industry being shaped by yearlings that will go on to compete on racing’s biggest stages.

Keeneland September is the 'World’s Yearling Sale'.

Because more graded stakes winners are sold at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale than all other North American sales companies combined, tremendous depth and quality await those in search of future racing success.

There is no greater proof-point of the World’s Yearling Sale’s significance than results in 2020. Last year, September Sale graduates dominated the sport, claiming 59 Grade/Group 1 and 222 graded/group stakes wins.

Seven September Sale graduates won Eclipse Awards as North American champions, and seven more were Breeders’ Cup winners. They include the likes of Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Authentic, Kentucky Oaks winner Shedaresthedevil, and multiple Group 1 winner Con Te Partiro.

Con Te Partiro (USA) was a two time Group I winner in Australia.

Regardless of location, buyers have the opportunity to take part in the September Sale. Keeneland is continuing to provide expanded bidding options both online and over the phone. To take part in the September Sale remotely, log in to the Keeneland Sales Portal at portal.keeneland.com and set up your account in advance of the sale.
