Sonntag
delivered Henry Dwyer with his first Group I winner when taking out the
Queensland Derby in 2014 and his three year-old half-sister had the trainer back
in the winner's circle at Geelong on Sunday.
Fifth and third at her first two outings last month, Denman filly Dimanche was
sent out favourite for the fillies and mares maiden over 1130 metres and raced
up on the pace before forging clear to win by three-quarters of a length.
A $70,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Torryburn Stud draft for her trainer,
Dimanche is the third winner from Parfaits, a half-sister by Strategic to Group
I winner Flavour from stakes-winner Ice Cream Sundae.
Torryburn Stud bought Parfaits from a Darley reduction in 2014 at Magic Millions
for $165,000 just prior to Sonntag winning his Queensland Derby.
They sold a Sebring colt from the mare at Inglis Easter this year for $140,000
and she has a yearling filly to follow by Shooting to Win. She is due to foal
this spring to Sebring.
