Brisbane Race Club lose meetings

AAP - Sunday September 17

The Brisbane Race Club will lose 10 meetings while remedial work is carried out on Eagle Farm racecourse.

Doomben racecourse has had a huge workload since Eagle Farm was again closed for racing in May after the redeveloped track was deemed not fit for racing

Racing Queensland has released a revised race schedule which is designed to protect the Doomben racing surface.

Nine Wednesday and one Monday (New Year's Day) meetings have been transferred to provincial tracks, mainly Ipswich.

A Saturday Doomben meeting has also been moved to the Gold Coast.

Doomben has picked up one midweek meeting at the expense of the Gold Coast.

Eagle Farm is expected to be ready to race in April but no 2018 winter carnival dates are available.

The contract for the supply and laying of the turf for the Eagle Farm remediation project has been awarded to Tinamba Turf.

In a media statement RQ said the company had the necessary quantity and quality available of Grand Prix Couch to complete the job.

The final assessments are being made in relation to the sub-turf profile with testing near completion and decisions pending on the best possible sand/loam mix for the track.
