Dirty Work to Join 2021 Spendthrift Australia Roster

Media Release - Wednesday May 5

Brilliant sprinter Dirty Work is set to complete a six stallion 2021 Spendthrift Australia roster, with the announcement of the G2-winning son of Written Tycoon joining the team for the upcoming season.

Written Tycoon's brilliant sprinter Dirty Work will join the Spendthrift roster this spring.

From a precocious sireline, with the combination of potent speed and stunning looks Dirty Work is an exciting addition to the Victorian stallion ranks.

A powerful physical, the $800,000 yearling was purchased from Sledmere Stud at the Inglis Easter Sale. His victory in the G2 Schillaci Stakes showed a barn-storming last to first finish that saw him record a scintillating meeting-record 32.93s for the final 600m, beating home four-time Group 1 winner, Hey Doc.

It was this electrifying speed that he possesses which allowed Dirty Work to secure the Kensington 1100m track record, delivering the fastest ever time by a colt at Randwick (1:01.74), achieved as a three-year-old in November 2019.

“Written Tycoon this season is a fireworks display. From his own progeny flying on the track, to that of his son Capitalist, we’re very excited to be adding arguably his best looking sire son to the Spendthrift Australia roster.” Spendthrift Australia’s General Manager Garry Cuddy said.

Dirty Work will be available under Spendthrift’s generous Share the Upside program, where a limited number of breeders will be given the opportunity to secure a breeding right for the lifetime of the stallion. Please contact Garry or Josh to register your interest.

Exceptional three-time G1-winning son of legendary War Front, Omaha Beach (USA), and dual G1-winning son of Curlin, Vino Rosso (USA) winner of the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic, will make their return to Victoria after covering full books in their first season.

After great support from breeders in his first season, Omaha Beach will again cover a restricted book of 100 mares in his second season at a fee of $22,000 inc GST. The handsome son of War Front covered quality mares such as Group 1 winner Santa Monica, Elegant Eagle (dam of Group 1 winner Go Indy Go) and Elite Ateates (dam of Group 1 winner Elite Street). We are eagerly awaiting his first crop of foals, after seeing the strength and quality of his American progeny.

Breeders’ Cup hero Vino Rosso also covered a full book in his first year and will have a limit of 100 bookings this season at a fee of $13,750 including GST. Reports are raving about his foals in America, all stamped in the classy and powerful mould of the elite son of Curlin. For the first time Vino Rosso will be added to the Breed Secure Program, offering a fantastic opportunity through the program to secure your investment and allow you to keep your profit.

In Australia there is a strong list of mares currently in foal to Vino Rosso including Soft Landing, the dam of recent Group 1 & Magic Millions winner Krone, owned by David Chambers of Krisnat Park and who will be offered for sale at the coming Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare sale.

Overshare enters his fourth year at stud and had his first yearling go through the ring this year with the bay filly out of Spirited Away (USA) being sold for $180,000 to Hawkes Racing, 16 times his service fee, highlighting the exceptional types he is throwing.

His fee of $11,000 including GST, remains unchanged for 2021 and is equal to what his sire I Am Invincible stood for in his first four years.

Gold Standard, the G2 Stan Fox Stakes-winning replica son of Sebring, also set a standard of gold class and quality with his first crop of yearlings this year who have found a home in some of the top stables in the country including Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Shane Nichols. He joins Overshare in his fourth year at stud and will stand for $5,500 including GST.

Swear has had a flying start to his stallion career with two winners from only three runners including the promising Faulds. These exciting early results have started the young stallion on the right note. A son of sire of sires, Redoute’s Choice, he remains in a position of affordability to breeders at a fee of $5,500 including GST.

Spendthrift Australia’s stallions continue to stand for great value and several are available to breeders on one of the world’s best breeding programs in Breed Secure.

Breed Secure is the only breeder’s payment program allowing you to pay the service fee after you sell the resultant foal, recoup your expense allowance and secure your financial upside.
