Another Million Dollar Yearling for I Am Invincible

Media Release - Monday April 12

The number of $1m-plus lots sold at last week’s Easter Yearling Sale has increased to 23 following the purchase by Vic Bates of an I Am Invincible x Listen Here filly for $1,050,000.

Lot 392, offered by Cressfield, was initially passed in through the ring but following some swift negotiating, Bates’ Roughwood Park secured the stunning half sister to Deep Field and Shooting To Win.

She becomes the ninth I Am Invincible yearling at Easter 2021 to realise $1m or more.

Lot 425, an I Am Invincible x Miss Atom Bomb colt from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft, has also sold since Wednesday night’s end of sale, with Snowden Racing teaming up with Primavera Pastoral to secure the colt for $600,000.

The purchases are two of a number of lots to have sold since the gavel came down on the final lot on Wednesday, which has seen the overall Easter Yearling Sale clearance rate climb to a stunning 90% and the gross exceed $134.4m.

Cressfield’s Wayne Bedggood described the Listen Here filly (pictured) as “bombproof’’.

“The new owners are going to have a lot of fun with her, she’s an exceptional filly,’’ Bedggood said.

“She’s got a fabulous temperament, she’s very strong, the family is proven and she was very popular at Riverside all week but never really turned a hair.

“Cressfield and the ownership group of this filly are extremely grateful to Inglis for the hard work they put in behind the scenes to work with prospective buyers to get this filly sold.’’

Inglis’ Managing Director Mark Webster added: “To see Easter’s clearance rate enter the 90 percentile is quite extraordinary and testament to the hard work our team has done with vendors and buyers since the final fall of hammer on Wednesday.

“To now have 23 million dollar-plus lots is incredible, while the median figure of $280,000 is the highest in the history of the Easter Yearling Sale and speaks volumes for the strength and depth amongst the buyers.’’
