2YO Sale Mail for Canterbury Monday

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 15
The official two year-old trials will be held at Canterbury on Monday featuring 12 heats over 900 metres with Newgate Farm's first season sire Sizzling represented by an impressive five runners with only Exceed and Excel, I Am Invincible and Snitzel listed as having more runners.

Expensive runners to keep an eye on include Stratosphere (pictured above) (2c Snitzel x Ultimate Fever) $925,000 Magic Millions, Munich (2c Snitzel x Quench the Thirst) $750,000 Magic Millions, Mandalong One Up (2f Tapit x Leinam (USA) $700,000 Magic Millions, Witherspoon (2f Exceed and Excel x Girl Hussler), $500,000 Magic Millions and Sokudo (2c Not a Single Doubt x Imoto) $500,000 Magic Millions.

SizzlingA Group I winning two year-old by Snitzel, Sizzling was always an obvious pick to throw precocious types and with five runners his stock are obviously sound and trainable, fast we will find out soon enough!

Other first season sires with runners are Dawn Approach (IRE) (2), Fighting Sun (2),
Albrecht, Epaulette and The Factor (USA).

Somewhat surprising absentees are Zoustar and Dundeel, who were the market leaders among this group of sires at the sales earlier this year.

Both horses did win at two, albeit in April, but they were never hurried to go early.

James Cummings has entered 10 two year-olds for Godolphin, six of them by champion sire Exceed and Excel.

They include Pindus (full brother to Group II winning 2YO Calliope); Nivelle (a half-brother by Sepoy to Group II winner Souchez); Hiemal (full brother to Group winners Kuroshio, Believe 'n' Succeed and SW Agulhas); Skagerrak (by Dawn Approach from the family of Black Caviar); Beware( brother-in-blood to four-time Group I winner Guelph); Sergeant (brother to Group III winner Bello, half-brother to SW's Emblems and Trencher); Metrical (half-brother by Exceed and Excel to Group III winner Circular from the family of Lonhro)
