Snitzel's Snitty Kitty Opens Stakes Account

Mark Smith - Saturday June 3

Decisively beaten by Miss Debutante in the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes at Scone at her first taste of stakes class, Snitzel filly Snitty Kitty went one better in Saturday's Listed Amgrow Lightning Handicap (1050m) at Doomben.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Caulfield-based trainer Henry Dwyer, Snitty Kitty gradually wore down the consistent Upstart Pride (Tycoon Ruler) by a neck with leader Prompt Return (Beneteau) a long-head back in third.

"She ran really well at Scone and coming back 50 metres in distance was a positive," Clark said.

"She didn't really get around this track at all and to tough it out and win like that it was a good performance.

"If she had adapted to this way of going better she would have won easier.

Stable representative John McLachlan said Snitty Kitty would likely remain in Queensland for another start.

"She just kept grinding away to the line I was really impressed with the way she kept fighting on," McLachlan said.

"It's only her second time going around this way."

A $175,000 purchase by her trainer from the Willow Park consignment at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Snitty Kitty advances her overall record to 4 wins, 2 seconds and 1 third from 9 starts with earnings of $198,785.

Snitty Kitty (pictured as a yearling ) is the fourth foal and third winner out of the Tale Of The Cat (USA) mare Lassiter's Cat a half-sister to Group II winner Delbrae (Thunder Gulch) and the stakes-placed Leica Light (Hennessy) from the famous Leica family.

Lassiter's Cat has a yearling filly by Sizzling and a weanling colt by Star Witness.

She was covered by Wandjina last spring but missed.

Snitty Kitty becomes the 63rd stakes winner for champion Australian stallion elect, Snitzel.
