A
Group I winning son of Champion Sire Fastnet Rock, Wanted is the highlight
of the most recent gavelhouse Australia catalogue with bidding set to close
from 7pm AEST on Monday 5 June.
Based at Sun Sud in Victoria, Wanted has sired over 80
winners and his progeny have earned in excess of $4.7m thanks to black type performers
such as Wazzenme, Rough Justice, Shaf, Dead Or Alive, Surf Seeker, War Point
and Sort After to date.
Precocious enough to win the Gr.3 Kindergarten Stakes at two, Wanted, just like
Fastnet Rock, developed into a championship sprinter at three with a number of
quality performances including his victory in the Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap.
"One of his best features is his lovely temperament and he is a pleasure
to do anything with," said Sun Stud's Operations Manager David Grant.
"He is easy to handle in the covering barn, has a great attitude, and is a
typical son of Fastnet Rock in that he is a good doer."
Two broodmares in foal to promising young sires also feature in the current
auction. De Lago Flash is a
daughter of champion broodmare sire Encosta De Lago and has produced four foals
to race with three of those being winners. She is out of the Danehill mare La
Laguna who is a black type winner and is in foal to Darley's Sidestep, runner
up in the Golden Slipper and champion two-year-old colt in Australia 2012-13.
Idalia Belle is a daughter
of Hard Spun and out of Star Hayley who was a winner at two and is a dam to
seven winners including Mister Celestial. Having produced three foals to date,
this young mare is already the dam of a winner and is in foal to Newgate Farm's
Wandjina. By red hot sire Snitzel and out of La Bamba, Wandjina's first weanlings
have made up to $335,000 in the sale ring.
