Is She a Sprinter or a Stayer?

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 25

The Inglis Easter touring party had an interesting trip into Widden Stud on Thursday with a flooded causeway making for an unscheduled adventure aspect to their arrival, but it was well worth the effort taken to see this outstanding draft that includes the half-sister to Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare.

Offered as Lot 318, this lovely filly by leading first season sire Shalaa (IRE) and is from top producer Geblizt, a five time winner up to 1400m, who has left two stakes-winners in $5.8million earning Melbourne Cup hero Vow and Declare as well as Lycurgus, who won the Listed MRC Galilee Series Final at 2500m.

There is a real mix of speed and stamina in this female family, so it will be very interesting to see how this filly develops and where her optimum distance range will actually fall.

There’s no question of sprinter or stayer about Lot 61, who is by champion sire I Am Invincible from Hinchinbrook’s brilliant Group II MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Samara Dancer.

That pedigree definitely says sprinter!
