Stakes Run Continues for Dream Ahead

Tara Madgwick - Monday May 22

The impressive run of 3-year-old stakes winners sired by Aquis / Emirates Park based shuttle sire Dream Ahead (USA) in recent time continued over the weekend when Visionary posted his maiden black-type success in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes (6f) at Newbury, England.

Dream AheadA progressive 3-year-old colt raced in the same colours Dream Ahead sported with such great distinction during his own decorated career, Visionary did best in a highly competitive sprint to post his third career victory — from just eight starts — and his first in stakes race company.

Dream Ahead has very recently supplied notable 3-year-old stakes winners in England (Visionary) and France (Al Wukair) in the northern hemisphere, as well as Brisbane (Dreams Aplenty), Sydney (Generalissimo) and Perth (Awaken) on the domestic front.

This impressive contingent features the brilliant French colt Al Wukair, the unlucky minor placegetter in the Group 1 Newmarket 2000 Guineas at the beginning of the month. Such was the merit of his performance in the opening 3YO Classic of the 2017 European flat racing season, Timeform awarded Al Wukair a ratings figure of 125p — just one point inferior to the 2000 Guineas winner Churchill (126p).

Significantly, Dream Ahead's latest stakes winner is a maternal grandson of Lawman, a prominent sire-son of Invincible Spirit. This development augurs particularly well for any broodmare owners with daughters of sire sensation I Am Invincible to breed with Dream Ahead.

Now the sire of nine international stakes winners and a further 15 stakes horses worldwide, there is a very real possibility that Dream Ahead could be represented by yet another black-type winner overnight.

His high-class 4-year-old son Raucous, a four-time Group placegetter in England, is set to take his chance in a Listed Race at Windsor over 6 furlongs for which he is a pre-post 9/4 second favourite.
