Seventh Stakes Winner for Red Dazzler

Mark Smith - Saturday May 20

Carrying the silks of the McAlpine's Eureka Stud, Red Dazzler colt Pardoe earned a maiden stakes success in Saturday's $100,000 Listed Oxlade Stakes (1200m) at Doomben.

Pardoe had broken his maiden at Warwick on April 17 before an easy win at Ipswich at his most recent start.

The Tony Sear's-trained colt defeated the Chris Munce's filly Skate To Paris (Bradbury's Luck) by a neck with the Marcus Wilson-trained Wudang Blade (Hidden Dragon) one and a quarter length back in third.

With his first stakes win, Pardoe advances his record to 3wins, 1second and 1 third from 6 starts with earnings of $109,800.

Passed in when he failed to make his $35,000 reserve at the 2016 Magic Millions March Yearling sale, the consistent son of Red Dazzler has attracted interest from Hong Kong.

"We have had an offer to sell him," Sears said.

"We will have to see what happens.

"I have always thought he was a nice horse but I think when I took him to Warwick people thought he wasn't much good.

"I think he will be a miler and he is progressing in the right way."

The 2yo colt is the fourth foal and third winner of the Rubiton mare Pardees who won twice and was multiple metropolitan placed in Melbourne.

Pardees is a three-quarter sister to stakes winner Personal Ensign the dam of the brilliant Fontiton (Turffontein) the winner of the Group III Blue Diamond Prelude and Group III Blue Diamond Preview in addition to the valuable Inglis Banner.

Fontiton was not just a star on the track. She was purchased as a broodmare prospect for $1.1 million. She was knocked down to Henry Field for US-based SF Bloodstock and visited Written Tycoon last spring.

Pardees had been purchased by the McAlpine's Eureka Stud for $20,000 at the 2007 Inglis Great Southern Sale.

She has been a one stallion mare, visiting Red Dazzler in her first 10 seasons at stud.

Her yearling filly did not meet her $25,000 reserve at the recent Magic Millions March sale.

She has a weanling colt and was bred back to the son of Red Ransom last spring.

Pardoe becomes the seventh stakes winner for Red Dazzler who stood for $6,600 at Eureka Stud last spring.
