New Fastnet Rock Son for Tasmania

Media Release - Sunday May 14
Grenville Stud is very excited to announce that they will be standing LIONHEARTED (Fastnet Rock – Scandinavia) at stud this upcoming breeding season.

LIONHEARTED is impeccably bred being a ¾ brother to leading Victorian sire Magnus, and being a half brother to Helsinge, the dam of the champion mare Black Caviar and All Too Hard. Lionhearted descends from arguably the best pedigree in the Australian Stud Book.

LIONHEARTED was trained by David Hayes & Tom Dabernig and sent to Sydney for his 2YO campaign where he was aimed at the Golden Slipper as part of this campaign. He ran 2nd in the Group 2 Skyline Stakes and 4th in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes, both key lead up races to the Golden Slipper.

"We had a huge opinion of LIONHEARTED and thought he could win us the Golden Slipper, his runs in the Skyline Stakes and Pago Pago Stakes against the best 2YO's in the country were great and showcased his exceptional speed" trainer David Hayes said.

LIONHEARTED is by Champion Australian Sire, Fastnet Rock who is quickly establishing himself as the leading sire of sires in Australia with the likes of Hinchinbrook, Foxwedge (Leading 2nd Season Sire in Australia), Smart Missile and Your Song (Leading 1st Season Sire by Winners) having great success and proving to be outstanding sires.

Graeme McCulloch stated "LIONHEARTED's pedigree is unmatched and combined with his 2YO speed makes him a serious stallion prospect."

LIONHEARTED is an exceptional type who has a real presence and provides an outstanding opportunity for breeders to utilise a stallion with a real stallions pedigree.

LIONHEARTED will be standing for a fee of $4,950.00 inclusive of GST, payable on a live foal - providing excellent value for breeders.

LIONHEARTED will stand alongside MAWINGO at $4,400.00 also payable on a live foal.

Grenville will be announcing the date of an open day to showcase the stallions in the coming weeks.
