Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Mark Smith - Monday March 15

There were seven heats for juveniles among the 16 in total at Rosehill on Monday.

There was a lot of interest in the first sighting of Chris Waller’s new acquisition, the West Australian flyer Fabergino, who won her heat with a minimum of fuss.

Former Queenslander Wisdom Of Water had his first public outing for Annabel Neasham. The 3yo son of Headwater looked good in winning by a length and a quarter without breaking a sweat.

Three unraced youngsters by Snitzel, Yearning, Chaleur Bay, and Holstein, impressed when winning their trials this morning.

Having her second trial, the Team Hawkes-trained Yearning did the job in style. The daughter of the ATC Australian Oaks heroine Rising Romance (Ekraar) has a brother heading to the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

A trio of Chris Waller-trained juveniles, Best Side (Not A Single Doubt), Kalino (Pierro) and Starman (Zoustar), showed they are not far off making their debuts after winning heats 10, 11, and 12 reactively.

The days fastest trial for the two-year-olds was recorded by Best Side, who was having his third trial and has improved each time. Purchased by Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $650,000 at Easter, Best Side runs for a very high profile ownership group.

Though he won narrowly, Kalino was not pushed out to win his heat. The son of Pierro was a $210,000 purchase by Star Thoroughbreds out of the Tyreel Stud draft at the Inglis Classic.

A $210,000 Inglis Classic purchase, Kalino (Pierro) looks promising

In the final heat of the day, Savabeel’s unraced 2yo son  Aeecee Express was ridden out to win a trial for maiden 3yo colts and geldings at his first public appearance.
