Group One Dams –When You’re on a Good Thing!

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 14

They say when you’re on a good thing you should stick to it!

A wet weather Sunday has meant Breednet has time for a little research so we’ve delved into the dams of current season Group I winners in Australian and New Zealand to see what they were up to last spring and what foals we can expect later this year.

Forbidden Love - her dam Juliet's Princess returned to All Too Hard in 2020.

The list below features all Australian and New Zealand Group I winners this season whose dams are believed to be alive and at stud in Australasia had stud returns lodged last year.

The list above highlights the fact when a breeder achieves the pinnacle of success in producing a Group I winner, they frequently like to go back to the source and hope for lightning to strike a second time.

Of the 31 horses listed, 15 of their dams were covered again last year by the sire that produced their Group I winner.
