Basil Nolan and his team at Raheen Stud are excited for the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale (March 15,16) where they will present a big draft of 30 featuring 21 from the first crop of their exciting young sire Heroic Valour as well as a colt that will command huge interest as he is the only entry in the sale by red hot sire Zoustar.
Coming off a weekend when he posted a Group I quinella in the VRC Newmarket (Zoutori, Indian Pacific) as well as unleashing two new Group winning juveniles in Lightsaber and Glistening, Zoustar is the sire of the moment making Lot 40 a horse not to miss.
A half-brother to Group II winner Oak Door from stakes-winning sprinter Beyonce’s Star, this powerful chestnut colt comes from the family of Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth.
A November 10 foal that has benefitted from a little additional time to develop, he is eligible for both BOBS and QTIS adding to his appeal for interstate buyers.
Heroic Valour made a favourable impression at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in January where he had five yearlings sell in Book 1 and 2 at an average $106,000 with his top seller a colt from Alyssa Jean that made $150,000 for Raheen when snapped up by Desleigh Forster.
The warm reception afforded Heroic Valour is hardly surprising given his profile as the only Group I winning two year-old son of Fastnet Rock at stud in Australia.
Unbeaten at two, Heroic Valour was a speed machine for the powerful Te Akau racing stable, winning the Group I ARC Diamond Stakes in lightning fast time at only his third race start.
Always racing against the elite in black type races, Heroic Valour produced four wins and a further 12 top four finishes from just 19 starts.
Bred and raised at Coolmore Stud, Heroic Valour was a $400,000 yearling purchase for David Ellis and is a three-quarter brother to $2.2million earner Triple Honour, winner of the Group I ATC Doncaster Handicap. He is among eight winners from outstanding producer Myrrh (NZ), a daughter of influential sire Nassipour (USA).
Champion sire Fastnet Rock has proven a remarkably successful source of sires with eight of his sire sons already producing Group I winners of their own – Hinchinbrook, Smart Missile, Foxwedge, Stryker, Rothesay, Wanted, Atlante and El Roca - Heroic Valour looking well placed to add his name to the list!
