Bumper gavelhouse.com NZ Catalogue Online Now

Media Release - Wednesday March 29
The latest gavelhouse New Zealand catalogue is online now with plenty of quality bloodstock on offer in the 50 Lot catalogue.
Bidding is set to close from 7pm NZ time Monday 3rd April.

The successful sale of a share in Darci Brahma in the last gavelhouse.com New Zealand fortnightly auction has prompted Blandford Lodge's Graeme Bax to list a share in the five-time Group One winning son of Danehill. Having sired seven Group One winners to date, he continues to produce top-line performers with Devise looking like his next headline maker after running second in the recent New Zealand Oaks and now preparing for an assault on the Australian Oaks.

Among the well-credentialed racing prospects on offer is a yearling filly from the last crop of one of the sires of the moment in High Chaparral, the sire of Saturday's Gr.1 Vinery Stud Stakes winner Montoya's Secret.

This filly, pictured above,  at Lot 17, is offered on account of Windsor Park Stud and from the family of black-type winners Gotta Have Heart, Crossyourheart, Adaline, All Thrills Too, Swear and Soleil Rouge.

Lot 4 - a yearling colt by Brighthill Stud's Dalghar from a three-quarter sister to Gr.1 SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Exalted Time (Bellotto).

Lot 5 – from William Fell's Goodwood Stud, recent celebrants as breeders of ATC Derby bound Gingernuts (Iffraaj), a half-brother by Ocean Park to Barbaric (Pins), a Group One performer and Listed race winner for the farm.

Lot 6 – colt by leading young sire Per Incanto from the family of Maluckyday (Zabeel), Melbourne Cup runner up and winner of over A$1.4 million.

In total 27 Lots are offered unreserved, including 10 from successful Singapore-based owner and breeder CK Phua's Oscar Racing Stables.

They form part of a reduction sale including young-stock and breeding stock and have good connections to successful horses in Singapore and Malaysia including Tracy (Casual Lies), a full sister to Singapore Derby winner Clint offered with a Shamexpress colt at foot.

With 22 broodmares entered, covering sires include Burgundy, Highly Recommended, Jimmy Choux, Niagara, Pins, Roc de Cambes and Shamexpress while the sires of foals offered at foot include Guillotine, Jakkalberry and Shamexpress with some highlights below:

Danness – dam of recent stakes-performer Rocknrolla (Towkay) carrying a colt by Rich Hill Stud's five-time Group One winner Jimmy Choux. Her Tavistock colt fetched $320,000 at Karaka in January

Hameeda – a daughter of the outstanding race mare and producer Habibti with Humidor the most recent Group One winner from the family.

Keeper On – stakes-performer carrying a colt by Jimmy Choux. This is the same cross as talented Chris Waller-trained galloper Chaussure and Tony Pike's Bostonian.

Rita Moreno – a half-sister to Gr.2 Eight Carat Classic winner Natalie Wood, the dam of Maluckyday, in foal to Windsor Park Stud's Gr.1 Newmarket winner Shamexpress. A son of multiple champion sire O'Reilly, Shamexpress' first crop of yearlings have been well-received on both sides of the Tasman, selling for up to NZ$510,000 and A$300,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, entries are now open for the nextgavelhouse.com Australia auction and are due by 7pm (AEDT) Monday 3 April. The catalogue will be launched at 5pm on Tuesday 4 April and bidding will close from 7pm on Monday 10 April.
