One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday February 23
Patience looks like paying off for the three-quarter sister to former slick Sydney stakes-winner Ladys Angel who broke the ice for her first win at Wyong on Thursday.

Three year-old Dane Shadow filly Lady Dane was a close third at Wyong on debut last July and was immediately sent to the paddock by her trainer Joe Pride.

She returned to finish fourth on the dreadful heavy 10 track at Warwick Farm on February 8, but found the good surface this time around far more to her liking.

Lady Dane as a foal at Bella Lodge in 2013Lady Dane travelled well for Bobby El Issa just behind the leader and sped away in the straight to win the 1200 metre maiden eased down by two lengths.

Retained to race by her breeders, who include Bella Lodge's Charlotte Manuel, Lady Dane is a three-quarter sister to Group I placed stakes-winner Ladys Angel.

She is the third winner for Lady Sublime, a half-sister to the dam of stakes-winner Oxford Poet and grand-daughter of former sizzling speedster Mother Duck

Kitchwin Hills stalwart Dane Shadow has shown in the past that when he gets a good filly she can be seriously good, so Lady Dane will be well worth following.

Lady Sublime produced a filly by Star Witness last year and is now in foal to Dane Shadow's ill-fated barn mate Time for War.
