One to Watch – Seymour

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 21
Fastnet Rock is having a great season with his two year-olds and added an exciting debut winner to the tally with a supremely dominant win for royally bred filly Shoals at Seymour on Tuesday.

The Lee and Anthony Freedman trained filly was easy in the market, but stalked the leader for Daniel Moore and sped away in the straight to win the 1100 metre maiden as she pleased by four lengths.

The Broken ShoreIt was a sensational debut for a filly that is entered for both the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes and Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes at The Championships next month.

Shoals was retained to race by her breeders Arrowfield Stud and Jonathan Munz and is the first foal of The Broken Shore, who was bought by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock for $1.9 million at the Magic Millions Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014.

A metropolitan winner by Hussonet (USA), The Broken Shore is a half-sister to Group I winners Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain and Platinum Scissors as well as Group III winner Sliding Cube and stakes-winner Echoes of Heaven.

The Broken Shore has been to Fastnet Rock in three seasons running and was covered last spring by Medaglia D’Oro (USA).
