Keeneland Sale-Topper Family in Australia

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 13
The global nature of the Australian bloodstock industry was highlighted yesterday when the top priced offering during the first session of Keeneland September had a pedigree that would look familiar to many Australian breeders.

Fetching $2.7 million to the bid of MV Magnier was a stunning grey Tapit filly from stakes-placed Pretty 'n Smart, who has been a sensational producer leaving eight winners headed by Group I winner Cupid, Group III winners Heart Ashley and Ashley's Kitty as well as stakes-winner Indianapolis.

She is the most expensive yearling  sold at public auction in North America this year and the highest-priced filly sold at the September Sale since 2008.

Heart Ashley and Ashley's Kitty are both at stud in Australia for Kia Ora Stud and have had a number of foals with Heart Ashley already leaving a stakes placed performer in Ameristralia.

A daughter of champion sire Fastnet Rock, Ameristralia was bought out of the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $400,000 by Spendthrift Farm and has been exported back to North America to pursue a stud career for them in Kentucky.

Both mares had offspring sell at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale with Vinery stud paying $600,000 for a More Than Ready (USA) colt from Heart Ashley, while John Warren/Highclere/Lindsay Park paid $380,000 for the Exceed and Excel filly from Ashley's Kitty.

Speedy Kitty is pleasing connections and showing every sign of being up and running at twoThe Exceed and Excel filly has already been named Speedy Kitty and is in work at Lindsay Park with the Hayes / Dabernig partnership.

Heart Ashley has a Snitzel yearling colt and is in foal to More Than Ready, while Ashley's Kitty has a yearling colt by Deep Field and was covered by him again last year.
