Eight to try and stop Winx on Saturday

Clinton Payne - Wednesday September 13

Happy Clapper, Red Excitement and Foxplay are three of the octet that will be opposition for champion mare Winx's quest for a 20th straight win in Saturday's Group I George Main Stakes at Randwick and Racenet has the fields and form online.

The $500,000 Group I weight-for-age feature over the famous Randwick mile has two dual acceptors in the race – McCreery and Tom Melbourne. Both horses are also entered for the $150,000 Group III Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m).

The Bill Ritchie Handicap is an Epsom Handicap qualifier and there are nine horses accepted for the race including three more dual acceptors – Spectroscope and No Doubt, entries for the Cameron Handicap and Burning Passion – an acceptor for The Sofitel (1400m) at Flemington.

The $150,000 Group II The Shorts (1100m) is a genuine The Everest entrée with four confirmed runners in the set weights and penalties contest. The nine-horse field includes Chautauqua, Redzel, English and Fell Swoop.

The other black-type contests on the card are the $200,000 Group II Tea Rose Stakes (1400m), $150,000 Group III Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) and the $125,000 Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m).

Saturday's nine-race program starts at 12.15pm (AEDT). The track was rated a good (4) at acceptance time while the rail will be in nine-metre position.
