In 2012, Godolphin took the decision to send Lonhro’s full sister O’Giselle to stud in the Northern Hemisphere and the move has produced two stakes-winners including Zakouski, who won the Group II Al Rashidiya (1m1f) at Meydan overnight.
A five year-old Shamardal gelding trained by Charlie Appleby, Zakouski scored a three-quarter length win in the turf feature as favourite taking his record to five wins from eight starts.
He is the third stakes-winner for O’Giselle joining Australian bred Group III winner Albrecht, who was her second foal, and also King’s Command, a Northern Hemisphere son of Dubawi that won the Group III Saint-Cloud Prix Thomas Byron.
O’Giselle is now back in Australia for Godolphin and has a yearling colt by Shooting to Win and after missing to Exceed and Excel is now in foal to Shamardal’s champion sprinter Blue Point (IRE), so will produce a three-quarter sibling to Zakouski later this year..
