Japanese Winner for King’s Rose

Deep Impact colt Satono Arthur, a son of the Group 1-winning New Zealand mare King's Rose (Redoute's Choice), made it two wins from as many starts with a bloodless win in a 2-Year-Old Allowance over 1800 metres at Hanshin on Sunday.

After having to share the winners spoils at his first start on the same track on October 1, Satono Arthur gave nothing else a chance at his second start, clearing away to win by three and a half-lengths.


Purchased for ¥195 million (A$2.1 million) by Hajime Satomi at the JHRA Foal Sale, Satono Arthur is the first foal of King's Rose who was the champion 3yo filly in  in New Zealand in the 2010-11season with wins in the Group 1 1000 Guineas, Group II Royal Stakes, Group II Sir Tristram Classic and Group III Eulogy Stakes.

Owned and bred by Dr. Gene Tsoi, King's Rose was transferred to Peter Moody and added wins in the in the Group II Memsie Stakes and Group II Stock Stakes before a narrow defeat to fellow New Zealander (King) Mufhasa in the Group 1 Toorak Hcp. 

Beaten a nose by Albert The Fat in the Group1 Emirates Stakes, King's Rose was retired after runner-up efforts in the Group III Moonga Stakes at Caulfield and the Group II Gilgai Stakes at Flemington.

Sadly, her dam Nureyev's Girl (USA) (Nureyev) died on September 29, three weeks after foaling a filly by Snitzel.
