WA
based owner/breeder Neven Botica has been enjoying success of late through his
young New Zealand based stallion Dalghar (Fr), but was in the winner's circle at
Flemington on Cup Day with classy mare Artistry, winner of the Group III VRC Hong
Kong Jockey Club Stakes.
The Peter and Paul Snowden trained daughter of Shamardal (USA) was a good
second at her first run back from a spell at Randwick last month and went right
on with the job in this 1400 metre contest.
She powered home from back in the field to win by half a length taking her
overall record to seven wins from 19 starts with prizemoney topping $450,000.
It was the second Group III win for Artistry, who is the best of two winners
from unraced Belong to Me (USA) mare Lady Peony, who comes from the family of
Champion 3YO Filly Samantha Miss and Group I winner Cronus.
Artistry was foaled and raised at Amarina Farm in the Hunter Valley as was
Saturday's Group III winner Sheidel, so it's been a good week for Craig
Anderson and his team.
Lady Peony is now at stud in New Zealand for Neven Botica and had a yearling
filly by Azamour (Fr) fetch $300,000 at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale this
year.
