Purchased for $800,000 from Karaka Book 1 in 2019, this Savabeel filly is bred to be something special and looked the goods at Pakenham on Thursday evening which is good news for her half-sister by Zoustar headed to Karaka 2021.
Trained by Grahame Begg, strangely named filly Butter Chicken was a hot favourite for the 1600m maiden following a close second on debut at Cranbourne earlier in the month and justified the faith of punters with a commanding win.

Butter Chicken runs for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing and was purchased for him by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock from the Pencarrow Stud draft at Karaka.
Butter Chicken is the second winner from Scintillula (IRE), a Group I placed Group III winner by Galileo that was also fourth in both the Group I Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks.
If ever a filly was bred to be an Oaks contender Butter Chicken is surely her and with Grahame Begg training you can be sure all the classics are on the table.
The first foal of Scintillula is four year-old Snitzel mare Our Birdsong, who has won four of 11 starts and her third is a stunning Zoustar filly that will be offered by Pencarrow Stud as Lot 94.
