James Harron Pays $1.15 Million for Shalaa Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 13

The 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sale was topped by a Deep Impact colt from young Redoute’s Choice Group III winner Honesty Prevails and her second foal, a colt by Shalaa (IRE), also hit the mark with buyers selling for $1.15 million to James Harron Bloodstock.

$1.15 million Shalaa colt from Honesty Prevails.

Bred and sold by Arrowfield, the colt is from the second crop of their exciting young shuttle sire Shalaa, who will have a key runner in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday in Shaquero.

“To have a Breeders Plate winner (Shaquero) in your first crop is impressive,” James Harron told Racing.com.

“He’s a special colt with lots of quality and comes off a correct farm in Arrowfield. He was one of our must have colts this week.”

His sale is the best auction result for Shalaa, who covered 163 mares in Australia last year.

The first foal of Honesty Prevails that topped last year’s sale when fetching $1.9million has been named Profondo with Richard Litt to train.

She has a colt foal by Dundeel and was covered by Written Tycoon last spring.
