John McGrath Named TBNSW Breeder of the Year

Media Release - Friday December 18

Long time breeder at Kitchwin Hills John McGrath has been named the Thoroughbred breeders NSW breeder of the year, following a huge year on the track for the Tangerine team.

A much deserved Group 1 win with Dreamforce in the time honoured George Ryder was no doubt the highlight for the owner/breeder who races with John Thompson in his well known Tangerine coloured silks.

With a number of other group wins, the Group 1 off the bucket list was a huge result for the Fastnet Rock son of the Group 1 winning Eskimo Queen, and pushed his prizemoney well in excess of $2 million.

The ever consistent Cuba (All Too Hard X Tabassco Kitten) pushed his prizemoney over the half a million barrier with a series of consistent performances with the Listed Canberra National Sprint the much deserved black type performance for his Dam Tobassco Kitten, of which John still owns and has a positive scan to Pierata.

With relatively small breeding numbers, John's strike rate over the years has been phenomenal and a worthy recipient of this award. We hope there are a few more Group 1 winners in the Tangerine with a KWH.
