Aquis Farm Celebrate Stakes Success

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 11
Progressive bloodstock enterprise Aquis Farm enjoyed immediate success at Eagle Farm on Saturday when their new acquisition Cradle Me scored a stylish victory in the Group II BRC Dane Ripper Stakes.

The seven year-old daughter of veteran sire Easy Rocking has been racing consistently in stakes grade and was snapped up by Aquis Farm for $300,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last week.

Turned out in top order by her trainer David Pfieffer, Cradle Me (images Steve Hart) produced a career best performance to win the 1400 metre feature by a length with Zac Purton in the saddle.

Pfieffer couldn't have hoped for a better start for his new owners but the future plans for Cradle Me are undecided.

"Zac put her in a position to win the race," Pfeiffer said.

"Just getting held-up that bit at the top of the straight probably helps her use that acceleration she's got.

"The way she's racing it would be hard stop but she's a seven year-old mare so that's hard. I'll have a talk to the owners and see where we go from there."

The $500,000 Group I Tatts Tiara (1400m) is scheduled for Eagle Farm in a fortnight and may prove an appealing option.

Cradle Me was originally a bargain basement $3,000 purchase from the draft of Wattle Brae Stud at the sixth session of the 2010 Magic Millions Yearling sale.

She boasts the overall record of 11wins and 11 placings from 50 starts with prizemoney topping $690,000.

Cradle Me is one of just two named foals left by the imported Machiavellian mare Amphycles (FR) before her death in 2010.

Placed in France at three, Amphycles is a daughter of the class racemare Stella Berine, a Group III winner at St Cloud and multiple stakes-placed.

Completely free of Danzig blood, Cradle Me will be a suitable partner for any of the top sires in the land.
